How Theme-Based Custom Beverage Packaging Can do the Abracadabra for Your Business?

Have you ever though what is the biggest mistake made by the beverage businesses who are not selling as much as needed to survived? Well, apart from the quality of the product itself, I think it is the quality of custom beverage boxes mainly, where these businesses make a big error.

The error that I am talking of is falling for a brainless, but attractive packaging. It is very good for your business to get highly quality and impressive customized beverage packaging for your hot or cold drinks. It does the job, only if it is done intelligently.

So what is it that they miss in packaging? Why I deem almost half of personalized beverage packaging as one done brainlessly? It is because most of the custom packaging is not based on a pre-devised theme. More clearly, these boxes do not represent the beverages packed inside.

Now, put yourself into the shoes of the target customer and assume that you are in a mall having a look at shelves that host beverages and drinks. You are there to buy mint margarita and all you see is the boxes with wording that cannot be read from a distance, no images and a lot of colors and designs. However, you are here to buy mint margarita and luckily in the line of brainless boxes with no image of mint margarita, you suddenly happen to find a box with an image of pepper mint, lemon and a tempting glass of mint margarita.

My question is, which pack full of delicious mint margarita would you buy? One without any representation given to the beverage inside or one with the relevant images and theme? Isn’t this a eureka moment for you? What a considerable number of the beverage companies do is ignore what they sell and delve deeper into the realm of design and finish.

In this post, I will share with you some very effective tips to have the tell-tale packaging for your beverages. Let us get involved:

  • Image of the Main Ingredient – Well, this is not something that most of the customized beverage boxes lack; all beverage companies know that if they are selling apple juice, they have to place the tempting images of apples, glass full of apple juice or the juice itself on their boxes. However, the way your represent it might be different. Take Nestle for an example; in one of their fruit juice line’s packaging, they have shown the image of an outpour of the juice. This tempting diagonally placed image makes the Nestle fruit juice pack totally irresistible.
  • Supporting Images – You must have noticed how a few beverage companies which are selling their juices at an international level, show the image of the target customer as well. Right? Well, this is a tactic which will automatically divert the attention of such target consumer towards the packaging.

So, first of all define the age group of people who buy your products, then choose the gender that will mostly go for it and then the social class etc. Eventually you will have an ideal and narrowed down persona of target customer. Personify that person and give them proper representation on your personalized beverage boxes. Now see them rolling in a queue to buy your awesome beverages.

  • Hot or Cold – Well, this is the area where the biggest number of “not-making-enough-sales-beverage-companies” lacks the most. This is a considerably delicate point and not as ‘right-in-front-of-the-eyes’ point as the previous ones.

Alright, so the point is to know the type of beverages that you deal in. If you are a manufacturer of the hot drinks, definitely the ice cubes, snow flaks and visual personification of the cold breeze are not going to help you. You would only be doing the wrong type of branding. While I know that no company actually makes this type of mistakes, there are the companies with custom made food and beverage boxes which are not as hot or cold (as per the case) as their drinks are. Your box should be sizzling hot if you sell hot drinks or snow cold if it is full of a chilled drink.

So, these were some simple branding techniques that you can use, resonate your custom boxes with the theme of your beverage and capitalize over a better branding.
